Hannah Keeley -- a home comfort expert and mother of seven -- offers practical, everyday tips for making your home cleaner, healthier and more comfortable.

1. Breathe clean air. If the air is dirty, then your entire home could be unhealthy. Start with the basics and make sure that the air in your home is clean and healthy by installing an effective whole house air cleaner, such as the American Standard AccuClean air filtration system. With American Standard AccuClean, up to 99.98 percent of airborne particles are removed from the filtered ai

2. Keep dirt outside. Keep the dirt where it belongs by installing large door mats at every entrance of your home. For best results, put one inside and another one outside.

3. Dry it up. Moisture is a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Use dehumidifiers or exhaust fans often - especially in bathrooms - and make sure that you clean your bathrooms regularly. If you have any leaks or drips in your home, repair them in order to avoid moisture accumulation. If you feel as if moisture is everywhere in your home, talk to your local independent American Standard Heating and Air Conditioning dealer about American Standard's variable speed indoor products with Comfort-R, which can reduce humidity by 50 percent.

4. Wash those hands. Get everyone in the family to make a habit of washing hands regularly, especially after playing outside or before eating. Scrub hands with soap for at least 30 seconds. Children can count or sing a song to ensure that they wash long enough.

5. Use your vacuum. Make sure your vacuum has a HEPA filter, and vacuum often, especially if you have little children crawling around underfoot. Remember to vacuum floors as well as furniture, drapes and other fabric surfaces.

6. Cut the clutter. Stacks of papers, boxes and miscellaneous junk can be magnets for dust, dirt and other yuckies. More than 60 percent of housework is usually caused by nothing other than clutter. Get rid of the clutter by trashing it, stashing it or cashing it in at a yard sale. It can actually be a fun activity if you get the whole family involved!

7. Do the laundry. I know - not everyone's favorite chore, but bedding can harbor dust, dirt and much worse. Since one-third of your life is spent in bed, you want your bed to be especially clean and healthy. Wash your bedding often in hot water, and consider protecting mattresses and pillows with a hypoallergenic cover.

8. Clear out the chemicals. A big contributor to indoor air pollution is all of the chemicals that are used in fragrances.

9. Check those filters. Clean air is a must. Make sure you change out your filters regularly. With American Standard AccuClean, all you need to do is a quick vacuum or rinse, and you will wash away all of that dirt and dust.
