Green tip: Have your children

Green tip: Have your children have a recycle challenge and use any money earned to go toward a special trip for the year. Ours was to get it down to paying for one trash removal service by recycling so that we could save that additional money. Also we used the graph from the electric company to show how much Kwh of electric was used and tried to beat the last month by lowering it.

oops I like the heart bottle

These Sigg bottles are fantastic! I definitely recommend carrying a reusable water bottle instead of buying plastic bottles; and a big one is to get an energy check on your house to make sure you aren't losing heat in the winter or using too much air conditioning in the summer. Try to keep usage of all electrical appliances to a minimum!!

We are definitely fans of the

We are definitely fans of the aluminum water bottles, with all 5 of our children playing sports there are always thirsty kids looking for water. Using these bottles is better on my wallet & the enviroment. Another enviromentaly friendly thing we do is once our mayo, olives & a variety of other things are gone instead of throwing those jars away we use them to store dry beans, used cooking oil, nails screws any of that kind of stuff, it just makes me feel better knowing I utilized it instead of just tossing it in a landfill.;

0.3 L Hello Kitty bottle. It

0.3 L Hello Kitty bottle. It will look great with my Hello Kitty collection, and I need a reusable water bottle anyways!

My green tip is for cleaning counters, those in between spaces in tiles, and in the bathroom. Instead of using a harsh chemical like bleach or your everyday cleaning product scrub it with a fresh lemon. The lemon juice's acidity brings the gunk out. All you need to use after that is some warm water and voila. You have a clean, lemon fresh space that is 100% natural - no harsh chemicals used!

Don't have lemons? Coca-Cola is a great alternative (not kidding. I clean my spaces with coke & lemons all the time) in getting gunk out.

I have some amazing bags by Envirosax with Sesame Street characters that I use for everything -- shopping, swim lessons, soccer practice, etc. They are cute, my kids love them, and they are reusable!!

Love me some Sigg Bottles!

Love me some Sigg Bottles! Need to win one because we GO Green by carrying our own water instead of buying bottled water (and I accidently froze my Sigg bottle so it's got a bump in it and won't stand up - - they tell you not to do that but I wanted extra cold water and then left home without taking it out of the freezer - oops!)

Other favorite item - wash my clothes on a cold Cycle. Good for earth AND my bank account.

:-)

Our family's favorite "green"

Our family's favorite "green" tip is to re-use and recycle. We reuse plastic bags as trash can liners, plastic bottles for crafts etc. If we win we would like the Twittering bottle. Thanks!

For saving money and saving

For saving money and saving the environment, my tip is "the many uses of the plastic bag"
1. When given plastic bags at stores, save them for trash can liners for small trash cans (bathroom, office, car, motorhome, laundry room, etc).
2. Bread bags: of course after you have made sure they are crumb free, re-purpose them for piping bag. Works wonderfully for pancake batter, mixes made for baking machines, and so much more.
3. Plastic bags from stores can also be re-purposed for using on your hair. Give yourself a deep conditioning treatment at home, a home perm, a home color, a home hot oil treatment and these bags are wonderful. They are big enough to actually fit over mounds of hair and multiple perm rods.
4. Use the plastic bags for home manicures and pedicures. Heavily coat your hands or feet with a heavy lotion and then wrap them in a warm towel (hot from the dryer). Cover them with the plastic bag and tie them tight. The plastic will help keep the heat in and heat opens the pores to let the moisture get in deep.
5. Another use for bread bags: cut the closed end open and slip the bag up over your arm. These make awesome sleeves for baking, cleaning, and most of all, when the kids are having an artistic moment, they are great for protecting their clothes and skin from a major mess.

I am like a lot of others.

I am like a lot of others. EVERY container possible gets reused or recycled. I am part of a very large family and we take it a step further. We pass around furniture, clothes and anything else someone might be able to use. Two sisters head up teams for Relay for Life (breast cancer research) so leftovers get given to them for yardsales. Would love a new water bottle.

One of my favorite

One of my favorite money-saving green tips is exactly the topic of this post: We are die-hard reusable water bottle fans!

I'd love to try out SIGG. If it's the 3 bottles shown, we'd like either of the flip-top styles... all are such cute designs!

Thanks for the giveaway :)

I use reusable grocery bags

I use reusable grocery bags and recycle every chance I get!. I like the black bottle the best!

I absolutely DESPISE the

I absolutely DESPISE the obsession with having to buy a new bottle every time you want some water. I recycle, reuse, freecycle just about everything and anything possible. My daughter doesn't use disposable sandwich bags and doesn't throw away her water bottles for her lunch at school. These are adorable and I would love to give her one for school lunches, picnics, etc!

We reuse anything we can.

We reuse anything we can. Newspapers, school papers and magazines become critter bedding, filler for gift bags (after shredding) or we cut out the pictures for projects and/or use the backs of paper for drawing and painting. Old, holey clothes are recycled into rags for cleaning and I'm eventually going to try a rag rug. We have a few books on turning trash into cool things and have fun with those projects!
I like the Twittering bottle.

Reuse sealable plastic

Reuse sealable plastic storage bags by cleaning them. My husband fills them with soapy water and lets them sit in the sink for a few hours and then rinses them out. We've saved so much on Ziplocs by doing this.

Hello Kitty bottle. :)

I take used lavender scented

I take used lavender scented fabric softener sheets and place them in my lingerie drawers.

My green tip is to switch to

My green tip is to switch to flourescent bulbs!

My green tip is to unplug

My green tip is to unplug your cell phone chargers from the wall when not using them. They continue to use energy even when you aren't charging your phones. So unplug them to save on energy! My daughter loves the Twittering bottle! Would be great for soccer games!
