She just won't put herself to sleep (1 viewing) (1) Guest
Sleep is important for every member of your family. Your children need sleep to grow and be healthy. School aged kids need sleep to be alert and successful in the classroom. And, of course, parents need sleep to keep up with their kids! Compare napping schedules, techniques to get your toddler to sleep, and tips for making sure mom gets enough sleep with other parents going through the same thing.

I think I've made the mistake of always nursing her to sleep b.c. now she won't go to sleep without being attached to my boob. I'll lay her down about an hour or so after she eats and she lays up there and plays until it's time to eat again.

What can I do to get her to go to sleep on her own?

Hmmm. I am not quite sure what you can do. Do you lay her in her crib when she is tired? Do you know that she is tired? Madyson was a baby that never needed her sleep so she was up quite a bit. I would say just lay her in her crib if you know she is tired. If she is going to cry I would say just leave her for a bit. She will eventually fall asleep!

Keep trying! She'll get there...I nursed all three of mine to sleep almost every night for a year but stopped nursing in the night after 6 months old...that helped. After 1 year they all started falling asleep on their own once I weened them. A couple of friends of mine kept nursing past a year and just weened them off the nighttime feeding to get them to sleep on their own. Every baby is so different it's hard to know how to help! Good luck!

Yes. Once she falls asleep on the boob she's out and I can lay her down. She just won't lay down awake and fall asleep.

I think if I can get this figured then maybe she'll start doing better at night.

I think the CIO method is the only way to go. It's hard, but it works!!
