If your baby has begun teething, you have probably noticed a change in his or her personality as a result of the pain. There are several techniques you can try to relieve the soreness that babies experience while cutting their first teeth. Here are a few of them.

To reduce the soreness, try:

A teething ring-the best have gel inside and stay cool for some time after you've taken them from the refrigerator or freezer

A cold, wet, or frozen washcloth or ice secured inside a wet washcloth

Letting your child chew on a clean toothbrush

A frozen half of a bagel (if your baby has begun eating solid food)

A frozen ripe banana, cut lengthwise before freezing

A rattle or toy small enough for your child to mouth but too big to swallow (more than two inches in diameter) with no fragile or removable parts

Small chunks of cold fruit

Teething biscuit

Gum ointments

A nipple filled with water, frozen, and screwed onto the top of a bottle
