Kmart and the March of Dimes recently celebrated Kmart’s immense achievement of raising over $100 million in support of March of Dimes towards improving the health of babies. This is Kmart’s 29th consecutive year partnering with March of Dimes, and it was inspiring to see how two corporate and organizational giants could band together to gain truly effective results.
As you may know, the March of Dimes supports research to help prevent birth defects, premature births, and infant mortality. So far they have helped reduce the premature birth rate in the US by 6%, and according to both organizations there is no end to what they can achieve together.

The unpredictable East Coast weather can mean simultaneously experiencing spring and winter in one month—a fact that makes those of us who suffer from allergies not so happy. While steamy showers or at-home remedies may provide temporary relief, we all want something that will deliver proven results.
LAVI Dead Sea Sinus Solutions provide clinically proven products for sinus relief from moisturizers, washes, and sprays. Convenient and ready-to-use, the LAVI Sea Salt products are pre-mixed and are sold individually as well as in pre-assembled multipacks. What makes LAVI especially appealing is the fact it is made from all-natural ingredients, making it non-addictive and safe for pregnant mothers.

When I hear the words “spring cleaning,” I immediately think of intense milestone projects like re-organizing the whole garage, clearing out the garden shed, cleaning all the stained carpets, washing winter-streaked windows, and wiping a season’s worth of dust off of everything from little-used shelves to ceiling fans.
But my favorite spring-cleaning projects do not involve such Herculean tasks. By looking no further than my make-up bag, medicine cabinet, and first-aid kit, I can get rid of expired products, replace them with new choices, and spring with confidence into the new season.
Make-Up Refresh
While we love to add new make-up and skin care items – from picking up a fresh tube of lipstick to a new face moisturizer – we rarely get rid of the old. But now’s the time to toss out what’s expired or literally been laying around for years:

Everyone knows that childhood obesity is a huge problem facing American children today. However, parents struggle to come up with innovative ways to get kids on their feet. Which is why I was happy to hear about ChildObesity180 pairing up with First Lady Michelle Obama to launch the Active Schools Acceleration Project (ASAP), a new initiative to help combat childhood obesity.
In her campaign video for the initiative, the First Lady explained that ASAP, with the help of The Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), is conducting a contest across the country to reward teams who come up with the most creative and resourceful school-based programs and technological innovations, which will manage to advance physical activity for children. The contest is broken up into two different categories:

When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, you simply can’t cut corners. According to Everyday Health, the largest provider of online health information, seven out of ten Americans are trying to either lose or maintain weight. However, crash diets and quick fixes only hinder you from maintaining your weight for the long haul.
For this reason, Everyday Health created the Calorie Counter, which allows users to accurately count calories consumed and expended. This mobile app syncs with the online diet journal, and can help you find nutrition facts and count calories in the foods you’re eating and calories you’re burning by engaging in fitness and exercise activity. The app allows you track your food consumption everyday without the hassle of checking the nutrition facts on every product you eat.

In today’s world, our smartphones do it all. As technology rapidly moves ahead, many companies have recognized the immense value added for busy families through the ability to access a wide array of data on a single source. Joining music, photos and emails, your health information now has a new home.
This past year iHealth designs introduced the Blood Pressure Dock that measures your blood pressure and uploads the data to an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad via the company’s mobile application.
The iHealth Blood Pressure Monitor (BPM) app grants users a simple way to keep track of blood pressure levels with graphing and sharing capabilities. The application additionally generates systolic and diastolic figures, heart rate levels and World Health Organizaiton (WHO) classifications with each measurement.
