Open source software is such a cool addition in the technology world because it involves no money coming out of your pocket. Today, I want to tell you about two open source softwares for children that I was introduced to recently. As soon as I was shown this software, I immediately had to check it out. Of course, being a big kid at heart, I had to actually tear myself away from the software so I could give my girls a turn.
The first software is Tux Paint. This is an open source drawing program that your children will absolutely love.
As noted on the site: "Tux Paint is a free, award-winning drawing program for children ages 3 to 12 (for example, preschool and K-6). It combines an easy-to-use interface, fun sound effects, and an encouraging cartoon mascot who guides children as they use the program."

I'm Jen and one of the new Tech bloggers here at Mom Central. To say I heart technology is such an understatement, much to the dismay of my husband. I am so addicted and in love with technology that I may just need some type of help. HA! Now, I don't dress like a geek even though I do wear glasses...they are super hip and modern glasses. Technology did not find me; I went looking for technology and ever since we have been BFF's.
I love technology so much that I am currently a student working towards my Computer Information Technology degree. Who said school isn't fun? When you get to work with all things technology and your tests involve technology, college is the coolest thing since sliced bread! I will not bore you with which wire is connected to which wire inside your computer tower, but I will talk to you all day about which is the best processor you should buy when investing into a computer or laptop.
