We’ve all tried to capture that perfect moment in time whether it’s snapping precious moments of childhood, documenting holidays and events, or just to have a new avatar or profile picture. (Guilty!) Depending on the lighting, subject, or action of the scene, the photo can sometimes come out blurry, washed out, or full of red eye.
Although digital works to our advantage nowadays, allowing us multiple chances to take the perfect shot, knowing the settings on a camera can help to get it right in one click.
Panasonic Lumix GF3 goes to a wedding
Recently, the Mom Central New York gals headed to a mock wedding held by Panasonic to experience the new Lumix GF3. This unique demonstration allowed us to try out the camera shooting a faux bride and groom, flowers from the centerpieces, and celebrity cake designer, Ron Ben-Israel assembling a delicious cake for us.

As a Mom of two small kids, I know how important it is to find quality skincare products for babies that are both effective, yet gentle. My kids have very sensitive skin and seem to break out in a rash whenever they come in contact with something new. I feel we are constantly applying creams and ointments every night to combat the ingredients that irritated their precious little arms, legs and faces during the day.
No area of skincare has proved to be as challenging as sunscreen. I know I’m doing something incredibly important by applying this protection to their skin, but does that mean I should sacrifice their comfort? We’ve played around with different brands in the past, but all have left their skin blotchy and itchy after being outdoors.
UNT Skincare to the rescue!
We recently had the opportunity to review UNT Baby Sensitive Sunscreen Lotion. I jumped at the chance to test it out with my three-year-old daughter and 11-month-old son. Perfect timing as the warm weather (finally!) rolls into the Northeast.

As I strolled my baby girl into Carters for a new Easter/birthday dress, both cashiers stared in awe, with mouths slightly agape, of the iCandy peach Kaia was riding around in.
The iCandy peach was sent to me to test drive. I already have two strollers at home, so my husband was a little upset that I chose to bring yet another large baby product into our already cluttered home. I told him, “Honey, it’s just for a product review. I will either give it back, or give it to someone who needs it.” But I’m not giving it back. I mean this thing is a Cadillac compared to my other strollers. Kaia looks good in the iCandy.

Trying to maintain an active lifestyle while working full-time can present a challenge to also stick to a healthy and consistent diet. Oftentimes, heading straight from work to the gym or to an event leads to skipped meals or a quick binge of pizza or fast food on the way home.
Recently, I’ve begun taking along a healthy snack, like a Luna Bar, with me to satisfy my late afternoon or early evening hunger and to tide me over until I get home and can eat a healthy meal.

As the mom of a finicky three-year old, mealtimes prove to be quite challenging. From a flat-out refusal to eat what’s put in front of her (“But I want peanut butter and jelly!”) or a negotiation to get her to eat just something (“Two more bites – then you can have dessert!”), getting her to eat a well-balanced meal can be quite exhausting.
What happened to the baby who would eat anything?
When she was first exploring solid foods, Brooke would eat anything I put in front of her. From peas to peaches, tofu to ground turkey, she ate quite a wide array of foods. But then around the age of 18 months, something changed and she started refusing the foods she used to love to eat. Of course, that also came at a time when she started to verbalize her wants and desires more and more – and also started showcasing this newfound independence in other areas of her life, such as bedtime and bath time. It seemed like everything became such an effort – but none so much as mealtime.

Traveling anywhere overnight with a baby makes for a lot of prep work and schlepping. Since my other daughter is a teenager now, I barely remember having to pack her up for vacation. These days I just remind her to pack her toothbrush. Now that I’m back to living life with a baby, I’m reminded of the stress that accompanies packing up for an overnight stay.
Besides all of the extra clothing, diapers, formula, and toys I need to remember, I must also consider where the little papoose will sleep. I bought a used Pack n’ Play from a friend of mine for the bargain price of $25. Although it is in pristine condition, it’s still heavy and clunky to move around. It’s best suited for a permanent location in my finished basement.

Coming from upstairs, the cheering boomed throughout our home. I raced upstairs to see why my children were screaming so loudly at our television. They stood around the room, glued to the screen, and yelled for their favorite skateboard heroes as they watched the X Games. This scene could have happened any day, but what made it exceptional today was the intensity of their yelling. And that they all wore glasses.
Yes, all three of my boys and their friend watched television while wearing 3D glasses and felt transported into the arena where the X Games took place. They screamed and cheered just like they attended the actual event. I viewed the screen without glasses and the image looked blurry and doubled. I hurriedly put on a set of glasses myself and started cheering along with the boys. Watching television this way is incredible!

I’ve been in a cooking rut lately. I don’t know if it’s my pregnancy, my picky toddler or lack of inspiration, but I’m just not in to it. I’ve had these moments before and I’ve generally jolted myself out of the rut by flipping through recipe books or watching Food Network for a couple of hours. That’s just not happening right now.
