Have a car that is the bane of your existence? Do the backseat trash and cracker crumbs seem to build with no end in sight? As moms, we are always battling with the endless build-up in the car. From carting kids to t-ball to ballet to play dates, our cars have become our home away from home. I call this a new trend: the "stay-in-the-car" Mom. In fact, according to a survey of 1,500 Moms done by Mamasource.com, over 50% of us run over 3 carpools and errands a day. Actually, I think I run about 6...between school drop off, pick up, and dashing around.
We feel the pressure to keep our cars as pristine as our homes, but who has the time? Not me! But it still bothers me to no end.
Finally, someone has thought of us moms, and how many times we say, "Uh...please excuse the mess in my car!" as we shove things aside when giving a fellow Mom a ride.
A new car clean-up brand, Blink, has launched a round of products targeted towards us carpooling, kid-toting, commuting, road warrior moms who don't have enough extra time to spend on cleaning the car. With products such as the Mess Lifters, Trash Tossers, Spill Grabbers and Tidy Totes, they have set up a system to ensure a simpler way to manage the mess. They have recently started a contest in which they encourage moms to send a picture of their mess maker and enter to win a $5,000 digital camera package. So if you have a "clutter maker" or a "spill-maker," they want to see it. Click here for more info
So, the real question is, do these products actually work?
Amazingly so. I decided to go for the big challenge first: red dye on the front bucket seat in my car; a good month of stains from spilled coffee during those morning carpools on the rug right next to my driver's seat, and dried chocolate milk stains on the back seat. I was skeptical, and completely surprised. The mess lifters got rid of them in about 1 minute flat. I am talking no vestiges of the red ink, the dark coffee spills on the beige carpet, and the caked on dried milk puddles from inadvertently spilled chocolate milk boxes.
And the small self-service trash tossers (these too hook onto the car's backseat pockets) hook within reach for used juice boxes, snacks, trash and even kids' wet clothes.
My kids, Kyle and Brooks, are shocked to learn that trash doesn't actually go on the car floor! We have some work left to do on this one...
