Our children are starting to want to play online computer games younger and younger. As parents, we are treading on new territory, since these games weren’t even in conception when we were growing up. My friends’ children as young as 5 are asking to go online to play “big kid” games, but we feel torn since the benefits of these games are slim and they keep our children even more plugged in to the virtual world. However, JumpStart World from Knowledge Adventure provides you with a compromise, an educational game your children ask to play.

JumpStart World is a computer game that consists of four different units: Reading, Math, My Cabin, and Job Board. As your child travels through the levels they are awarded with virtual jewels. In addition, you received progress reports and e-mails updating you on the success of your child’s activity. This is a great way to both monitor their game play and gain insight into their learning progression. Finally one game we can feel comfortable allowing our children to play by themselves without constantly looking over their shoulder to make sure they are not straying into inappropriate content.
