back to school fashion

My two kiddos aren’t super picky about their clothes yet, but I do try and dress my two-and-a-half-year-old in cute clothes because it makes me happy. The teachers at preschool always comment on how “handsome” he looks. (BEAM!) But now that I’m paying for daycare AND preschool for my little ones, spending money freely on clothes is not an option.

Marshalls and T.J.Maxx remove the need to sacrifice the styles and designs you want for your kids in order to save money. Everyone wins with designer labels at affordable prices.

Fall fashion trends

I love to ask the fashion experts, “what are the kids wearing these days?” to keep up to date on the latest trends. And teenage creativity always inspires me to change up my looks.

For girls this season, sweater tunics and leggings are still in – yay! The boys trend this year centers around dark wash jeans, zippered hoodies, and vintage style Ts. (Vintage = when I was in middle school!)

The style watch for teen girls this season involves dolman and kimono shape tops, flared jeans, terry hoodies, and rompers. With accessories tying the pieces together, skinny belts, scarves, and fashion totes steal the spotlight.

Teen boys style also takes on a new look with wiskered, dark wash jeans, plaid button-down shirts, and suede boots. Lightweight hoodies are another must-have as the weather changes.

Back to school tips for families

As a spokesperson for the TJX family of stores, Audrey McClelland of Mom Generations offers up some insightful back to school tips for families. Here are some take-aways I liked:

  • purchase duplicates of your kids favorite staples such as tees, fleeces, and jeans
  • let little ones embrace their creativity by allowing them to mix and match the latest trends
  • give teens an allowance in order to instill a sense of value into the young shoppers
  • let teens buy a few items now so that you may shop throughout the season for fun wardrobe additions

With more than 10,000 pieces of merchandise arriving weekly (I had no idea!), Marshalls and T.J.Maxx offer the latest clothing styles, along with stylish shoes, back packs, messenger bags, school supplies, and much more. Both stores provide a one-stop back to school experience that prevents shopping and wallet burn-out.

Oh, and ladies, here in NYC there’s a NEW Marshalls shoes-only store at 740 Broadway between Waverly Pl & Astor. I walked by it the other day just before they opened and melted with happiness!
