Do as I say, not as I do, I'm constantly telling my about to be 16 year old. She knows I'm always rushing, which occasionally means speeding or going through a yellow light, or maybe driving too close to the car in front of me. I've been doing this for years. I'm a good driver. Really. No accidents. But yet: now that Corey is about to start driving, I've had to reevaluate my behavior.
I realize I'm not setting a good example by going 40 in a 30 mph zone. Or by not fully stopping at a stop sign. And so, I'm trying. to be better by thinking that the car in front of me is a student driver. Or that Corey's in the car with me (even when she's not) so I'm more cautious. After all, if I don't mentor good driving habits, how will she learn? And more importantly, what "damage" have I already instilled? We'll find out next month when she starts her first driving test. I'll keep you posted...
