Our favorite summer treat has
Our favorite summer treat has to be strawberry short cake. My kids and I (We have 6) like to take several containers of freshly washed strawberries and chop them up into bite size pieces. We had sugar to them and let them sit overnight in the fridge. The next evening we mix up home made whip cream from a simple recipe. Once that is done we take either a sponge cake or angel food cake and slice it up into bowls for everyone. Topping it with the chilled strawberries that have sat overnight. And then we plop down a couple scoops of the whip cream on top and I drizzle some of the juice from the bowl over it. Sometimes we use a little bit of chocolate syrup on the whip cream. We all sit around together and enjoy our treat. So good after a long hot day. :D

Pizelles are awesome! I have wonderful memories as a child going to the neighbor's house as she would make a trillion of these and send me home with some. I don't think I have had one since! What a fun family summer tradition I could start with my own family!

My favorite summer dessert is home-made ice cream! My grandfather makes the best hand-cranked ice cream. He used to always make it with fresh strawberries because that was my favorite (and his!) even though my cousins always preferred chocolate. I've yet to find anyone that makes it as good as he does, although I should note that my father-in-law does pretty well! :)
