If you’re like me, music is a big part of your life. Where I used to do most of my listening on the car radio, after moving to New York City I’ve had to change up my routine and listen to music while on the subway, during my workouts, and at my home.

Whether I’m on the treadmill or the subway, my headphones seemed to always get in my way. I’d knock them out of the tray on the machine while running, have to slow down, pick them up – and hope I didn’t crack my iPod screen! When commuting, I typically would keep my iPod in my purse, which leads to extra wires hanging out of my bag and the inevitable tangle.

I was excited to discover the iB75 Bluetooth wireless headphones from iHome. The design is chic, sleek and most importantly functional! These earpieces are connected by a single cable, for the best tangle-free use. The Bluetooth wireless capability lets you hear music from up to 30 feet away, which is much farther than the distance that I’m typically used to (i.e. my purse or a workout machine). It’s great to wear these while walking around my apartment and cleaning without worrying about my music disturbing others. The built-in mic also allows you to have wireless calls. There’s even a play and pause button and volume control for playing back messages. My portable music listening routine will never be the same!

For a while, I found myself not listening to traditional radio, as I’d find my music at iTunes or other online streaming sites. And I have to admit that I missed it!

The iBN180, a Bluetooth alarm clock from iHome with FM radio features built-in
I was excited to discover the iBN180, a Bluetooth alarm clock from iHome with FM radio features built-in. For the modest price of $69.99, this compact system meets my needs for at-home radio listening without taking up the space of a larger system. Like many of us who love car radio listening, the iBN180 features six FM pre-sets, so it’s easy to switch back and forth from your favorite channels. You can also play the music on your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. I keep the iBN180 in my bedroom, since it’s great to have an extra back-up alarm clock on hand in case the one on my phone malfunctions, or I want some added assurance to wake up for an early flight or meeting!

The system plugs into an outlet, but also can run off back-up batteries in the event of a power outage. There’s even a USB port for charging your mobile device, so I didn’t have to resort to finding an extension cord or other plug to power up the alarm clock. My system is black, but it’s also available in a hot pink color for those of you who prefer a brighter hue!
