While consumers across the country and around the world have fallen for the excitement of Kinect’s innovative gaming abilities, they can now remain poised for even more innovations from the device. Recently, Microsoft announced the company morphed Kinect into a version compatible with Windows PCs.

With the new goal of bringing Kinect to all Windows platforms, the device continues to step out of its “gaming” definition and offers a variety of new uses for home, education, and business settings. Companies may now begin using it in the office and beyond with the new hands-free options it provides.

At the recent 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, the expansion of Kinect generated a great deal of overall excitement for Microsoft, with a launch dated scheduled for February 1. If previous success stands as any predictor for future performance, then the new version of Kinect should make a big splash in the consumer electronics industry.
