The Sony Bloggie Live HD camera is not your average camera and video recorder; it has a sleek metallic look and a convenient little feature: built-in Wi-Fi uploading straight to Facebook, Twitter, Skype, and other Internet sites. These features garnered interest at the Consumer Electronic Show (CES) this year.

This lightweight, pocket-sized device proves useful for travel and on-the-go pics and videos. It holds up to 8 GB (3 hours) worth of images and footage without a memory card.

The camera has a “share” button right on its large touch screen, allowing instant uploading. The touch screen also enables quick browsing of the photo and video library.

In addition, the device contains a flip-out USB that can connect to a computer, smart phone, or tablet to transfer content and charge the battery. Using the PlayMemories Mobile no cost app enables this cable-free exchange.

Personally, I love the live streaming capabilities to Skype so I can connect with coworkers and family while away. Videos stream in MP4 HD format for my media recipients. My one complaint is that the Bloggie also has an LED light for capture in darker settings, but the camera still does not allow good visibility in low lighting.

The USB and Wi-Fi enabled Bloggie shares compatibility with both Macs and PCs and has a touch screen keyboard for logging in. Ranking in importance along with my wallet and shades for back pocket must-haves, the Bloggie serves as a useful picture and video camera for busy days. It offers quick communication and sharing, a convenient size, and still or motion image capabilities.

Disclosure: Mom Central received a Sony Bloggie Live HD Camera to facilitate this review.

Sounds like a great camera!

Sounds like a great camera! I'd love to see how it compares to my flip, which I am beginning to loathe.

This latest Sony gadget

This latest Sony gadget sounds like fun! Handy for travelling and being able to stay in touch with your family. the Wi-Fi direct upload to Twitter and FB is a great feature as is the Skype streaming. Dare I ask what they charge in the US for one of these?
