The Samsung Galaxy Note: An Innovative Device Combining A Smartphone and a Tablet That Is Out of This Galaxy
The Samsung Galaxy Note pretty much does it all. It combines the communication capabilities of a smart phone with the ease of browsing and large visuals of a tablet in a single on-the-go device. This gadget can help organize the life of a busy working Mom – or – with Father’s Day on the way, serve as a great gift for Dads.
Powered by Android with a dual core processor, the Note uses AT&T service and offers 4G broadband Internet speed for surfing the web. With all that techy jargon aside, it does prove amazingly powerful and super fast in use. I was really impressed at its speed. The Note has the texting, web surfing, gaming, and email capabilities of other smartphones, and also offers Samsung’s ChatOn communication service, a fast direct message link between smartphones.
The 8-megapixel camera on the back takes high-quality photos and videos, and the Note has a long lasting battery life, as well. The device features the largest phone screen ever made. This high-resolution touch screen face offers vivid, clear visuals. The big screen also makes it easy to click on links and make commands with your finger. It reduces the amount of time you spend scrolling and waiting for the screen to change and show more information.
Although the device is light and thin, my one big complaint with it is that it doesn’t fit in my pocket. It is both longer and wider than the iPhone, making it a little awkward to use as a phone. But, this size sacrifice must be made for the tablet-like screen that offers so many capabilities.
A unique feature that sets the Note apart is the accurate and speedy S Pen, which works almost like a smart stylus; the pen allows for creating hand-written notes on a variety of mediums. These include emails, texts, and social networks like Facebook or Twitter. For example, the pen could let you to take a family photo, write on it, “We love you, wish you were here!” and send it directly to Grandma in one of the attractive email postcard formats…all in less than a few minutes. The pen also enables you to quickly jot down a handwritten grocery or to-do list, cut out images you see on the Internet and paste them directly into emails or documents, draw and much more.
There are also a great series of Samsung applications for the Note that work with the S Pen, called Hello Crayon, Hello Color Pencil, and Hello Chalk. These apps turn the pen into a fun kids’ coloring tool with cool sounds. This is a great way to keep kids entertained when you’re out and about. Although you can use your finger for any important tasks on the Note, the pen enables further creativity and personal touches. Notepad, recipe, post card, diary, and sketch board templates all invite the S Pen to make its mark.
The are plenty of other great interactive features worth mentioning that grace the Note. Useful for business purposes and coordinating busy family schedules, the S Planner and calendar allow you to organize complex activities and events. Synchronized apps designed specifically for the Note make great add-ons, such as the iAnnotatePDF app, which enables you to make comments and highlight on PDF documents and then save and share them. You can edit PowerPoints with the Note as well.
The Samsung Galaxy Note allows busy Moms (or Dads) on-the-go to consolidate their smartphone, tablet, and laptop all into one handheld device. The engineers have truly thought of everything, catering to a multitude of technological needs and desires. It offers a platform for fast communication, expression, idea generation, entertainment, and organization.
…The possibilities? Nearly endless. Moms and Dads can use the Samsung Galaxy Note to simplify and organize their work, family, and social lives on-the-go on one user-friendly device.
Disclosure: Mom Central received a Samsung Galaxy Note to facilitate this review.
