Staten Island Yankees Mascot Scooter
The Staten Island Yankees are a client of Mom Central Consulting and we received complimentary tickets to facilitate this post. Growing up, baseball was always a big part of my life. I would watch my favorite team on television with my parents and family members, cheering them on. When I got to be a bit older, we would go to games together to enjoy the excitement live. Part of the reason we didn’t do too many baseball excursions when I was a small child was the cost involved with Major League games, as well as the potential boredom a child feels during a nine-inning game.
Providence, RI
Mom Central received complimentary lodging. All opinions expressed are our own. Even in the summer, every day seems busier than the last, and we rarely get the time to think about vacations, much less actually take them. So when the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Rhode Island invited Mom Central to come to Providence, I welcomed the break. The close proximity to Boston makes Providence an attractive getaway option. Without needing a car, you can get to Providence directly from Boston courtesy of the MBTA, arriving in a little over an hour. With amazing nightlife, delicious food, and activities for the entire family, my boyfriend and I experienced a weekend of pure fun and relaxation.
Sturdi Tent Dog Tent
Mom Central received complimentary products from Petco in order to facilitate this review. All of the opinions expressed here are our own. Summertime has arrived, and we yearn to finally venture outside on hiking trips, camping excursions, or even just to bask in the sunshine on our patio. And it becomes an even better experience when we can also spend some quality time with our favorite furry friends. With Petco’s line of summer gear our dogs become our best outdoor companions – joining us in all of our favorite adventures. Now, summer essentials include collapsible water bowls, portable dog tents, chew toys, and comfy blankets so that the entire family – pups included – has everything it needs to make this an incredible summer outdoors.
Beaches Turks & Caicos Villages & Spa
Mom Central was invited by Beaches Turks & Caicos to visit the resort and received complimentary airfare, lodging, meals, and activities. All opinions expressed here are our own. From the air you can see the most incredible blue waters. From the moment you land you feel like you are in paradise. Upon arrival you are whisked away to a vacation destination like no other – Beaches Turks & Caicos Villages & Spa. Beaches Resorts is known for their family friendly, all-inclusive vacations. What may not be known about Beaches Turks & Caicos is that it is on 94 acres of the most lush green grass, on the softest of beaches, overlooking the most incredible blue waters you could ever imagine. This resort is so classy and sophisticated it caters to both adults and kids alike. Beaches treats every guest as if they were a VIP. The quality of guest service is the best around. From the moment you enter the resort, throughout the day and into the night, the staff is eager to please.
Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville, MA
Mom Central was invited to a media event to cover the opening of Legoland Discovery Center. All opinions are our own. My four-year-old is a girly girl. Something about the insistence of tutus, tiaras and impromptu renditions of Frozen’s “Let It Go” in the supermarket aisles makes me scratch my head and wonder how she got this way. So when we were invited to go check out the new Legoland Discovery Center in Somerville, MA, I worried she might be bored. Sure, we play with Legos at home, but only the pink ones.
Mom Central received a Mazda Mazda6 for a week-long test drive in order to facilitate this review. All opinions expressed here are our own. When I moved to Chicago two and half years ago, I made the scary decision to give up my car. Not since I was 17 years old, had I lived without a mode of transportation at my fingertips. But, knowing I would rarely be within a few minutes walk to a train station or bus line made the decision relatively easy. And I haven’t looked back since! That is until this past November when I had the chance to test-drive a Mazda Mazda6 for a week. The team at STI warned me that I’d fall in love with the car, which was short listed for 2013 Motor Trend car of the year, but I had no idea how right they would be.
Beaches Negril Resort & Spa
Mom Central was invited by Sandals/Beaches to visit the resort and received complimentary airfare, lodging, meals, and activities. All opinions expressed here are our own. When I was invited to visit the all inclusive Beaches Negril Resort & Spa in Jamaica to celebrate the launch of the new costumes for Sesame Street characters – a Mardi Gras/Carnivale-type theme – I decided to bring my boys Jake (12 years old) and Josh (10 years old) along. Beaches Resorts has a special relationship with Sesame Street and the characters are the main focus of the resort. At first I was somewhat apprehensive about bringing my boys, afraid they were going to complain, thinking spending time with the Sesame Street Characters was going to be too “babyish” for them.
Getting lost in the details of planning a trip happens a little too easily. With promotions, reviews, and comparisons on everything from flights to hotels, narrowing the options down can becoming so overwhelming! If you can take the guess-work out of one of these aspects with a guaranteed good experience, it makes planning a trip that much easier. I’ve had the luxury of staying at Kimpton Hotels during both work and pleasure trips, and am never disappointed. That’s why I was so excited to have the opportunity to stay at the Hotel Monaco in Chicago for a girl’s weekend recently. The location, accommodations, service, and amenities really made the trip! Chicago is one of my favorite places to spend time and Hotel Monaco captures the spirit of the city. The rooms are luxurious and sophisticated and feature the coolest tree house-esque window seats overlooking truly breathtaking views of the Chicago River. I could have sat there and read a book all day. But, with all the adventures the city has to offer, I had to get up and go!
For many families traveling to New York for the holiday season, attending a Broadway show typically appears at the top of the activity list. But unless you see shows whenever you hit town, it can be easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer size and scope of Broadway. Now, can provide some much-needed inside scoop! The site offers a host of Broadway stats, insights, and deals on its multiple social media platforms. Find discount ticket offers on Twitter and Facebook, check out YouTube for playlists of musicals currently running on Broadway, and get a sense of Broadway’s rich history through the site’s discussions of anniversaries around show opening and revival dates.
Flavors of San Juan
Mom Central received a Food Tour from The Flavors of San Juan in order to facilitate this post. As I’ve mentioned before, I can’t say enough about what San Juan, Puerto Rico has to offer – because it truly has something for everyone. But if you’re into not only history but also food – The Flavors of San Juan, Old San Juan Food Tour is incredible. My first organized tour was with the The Flavors of San Juan Food & Culture Tours and I attended the Chef For a Day™ class, which I thought was incredible. You can read about it in my post, Experience San Juan, Puerto Rico by Learning to Cook Like a Local (Part I – The Cooking Class).
Flavors of San Juan
Mom Central received a Food Tour from The Flavors of San Juan in order to facilitate this post. If you are looking for a place to go that has amazing food, culture, history and gorgeous beaches, I highly recommend going to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Whether traveling with the entire family, just the girls for a getaway or with your loved one for a romantic trip sans the kids, San Juan offers something for everyone. No matter how much time you’re visiting the island – one thing is for sure – you must experience the authentic cuisine. I’m honestly someone that has never been a fan of organized tours and prefer to do the things the locals like to do when traveling, however, with a location so rich in culture, food and history, having some guidance and education is a major plus.
