Dolphin Tale

Many movies make claims to the tune of “something the whole family will love,” but often fail to entertain all. Finally, Dolphin Tale has filled a spot among the true family movies that your kids will surely enjoy, and chances are, so will you.

Dolphin Tale is based on a true story and revolves around a real-life dolphin named Winter, who lost her tail after getting caught in a crab trap, but luckily was rescued and rehabilitated by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

Winter plays herself, and the movie chronicles her struggles, and ends with ultimate successful creation of her own prosthesis. The material used to create her prosthesis has been appropriately named “Winter’s Gel,” and has even gone on to help human amputees. Although many other parts of the movie are fictionalized, the cast including well-known actors such as, Harry Connick Jr., Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd bring you into the movie emotionally and you leave the theater feeling like you can accomplish anything.

A trip to see Winter at Clearwater Marine Aquarium

I received an amazing opportunity to meet with the director, screenwriters, actors, employees of Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and even Winter herself.

Although I’m sure Morgan Freeman does not work around others’ schedules often, Winter definitely ran the show! The crew and cast worked around Winter’s mood and physical ability – which was always determined by her dedicated trainers. However, in general, Winter was ready to work and she loved the attention, and when the film was finished, she was wondering where everyone went!

Want to see Winter, but aren’t planning on visiting Clearwater anytime soon? Check out Winter playing, swimming and eating live on her 24/7 webcam. While you’re there you can learn more about the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, and even enter the Kid Zone for fun activities!

My daughter 11, back when she was younger went to preschool and the person in charge there had a daughter who was in college. The girl was taking a marine biology course and said she was involved in helping with Winter down in Florida. My daughter helped out by bringing in a stand for for donating and selling items. They even made shirts to sell for it. I think my daughter would love to see the outcome for Winter in this movie.

It's an inspiring story. I still haven't learned to swim as an adult, but if a dolphin can swim without a tail surely I can learn.

We have been wanting to see

We have been wanting to see this movie but with 4 kids we can't afford it - too pricey for a family of 6. We really want to see it because we are a homeschool family and the child in the movie is a homeschooler too! I heard this movie has a great message. We would love to win this - we are learning about sea creatures all year long in our homeschooling and would be perfect to tie this into it! Thank you for the opportunity to enter this amazing giveaway!

I love this story. I can

I love this story. I can relate because when I was about 20 I dislocated my hip, and no x rays were taken or anything, and I was diagnosed with a muscle strain and sent to therapy. That messed my whole leg up and I had to have it put back in place, and it took me almost another year to walk right after that. I still have problems with my hip too, 8 years later.

My family and I met Winter

My family and I met Winter shortly after she was rescued. We were fortunate enough to be visiting family in the area, and got to see her first hand. It was an amazing experience, and are amazed that they made a movie about this tiny dolphin and her home. It's a great story about perseverance, and I'm grateful to have shared it with her.

Winter's story is amazing! I love that so many people worked together to help her. I can relate to this story because I volunteer at an animal shelter on weekends. I see so many animals in need of help and it is wonderful how so many people work together to try and find them a home and family.

The truth is that I can't really, truly relate to Winter's story. I've been blessed in so many ways and while there have definitely been some downs in my life, I've made it through and seen better days (hey, maybe that's kind of like Winter?!?). I'd love for my family to experience this story.

Winter's story is amazing! I can relate to her story because I spent three years in a wheelchair and I understand the struggle to move on after a tragedy. Her spirit is amazing and has so much to teach us. I saw the movie twice and forgot tissues both times.
