Disclosure: Mom Central was invited to a launch event at JetBlue headquarters to hear the Family Pooling announcement. All opinions are our own.

Ever since the first time I flew JetBlue Airlines, I knew I liked this carrier. There were certain perks of flying – friendly, down-to-earth flight attendants, free checked bags, and an assortment of complimentary snacks to choose from, as well as that famous in-flight entertainment to pass the time. When flying with the family, things like on-board snacks and checked baggage can certainly add up, so it has always offered service and amenities with families in mind.

JetBlue recently introduced a new way that the carrier provides even more value to families – Family Pooling. With the new Family Pooling option, the airline is the only U.S. carrier to offer a program allowing families and small groups the option to earn and share TrueBlue points, free of charge. Members can allocate all or a portion of their individual TrueBlue points into a group account.

JetBlue understands that there are many variations of “families” today, and any two adults can sign up to be a part of a family along with up to five children. This means the adults can be two parents, a parent and a grandparent, a parent and an uncle, two adults, their child and four nieces, etc., all depending on how families prefer to travel and save together.

In order to enroll, customers must visit jetblue.com/familypooling to set up their family and select a “Head of Household” (who will make all the family travel bookings and control point allocation). The head of household will invite members of the family to join his/her JetBlue Family. He/she can invite adults and children that already have a TrueBlue account, or can create one in the process of registering. Family members can choose to have 10 to 100 percent of their points pooled into the joint account. The “Head of Household” can then redeem points from the family account for any family member’s travel. One way award flights are available starting at just 5,000 points plus $2.50 taxes/fees with no blackout dates.

True Blues Family Pooling
What is truly amazing about the JetBlue TrueBlue points system is that points never expire – EVER. I have struggled with other carriers and elected to fly at some crazy routes and times just to use my reward miles before they were going to disappear. TrueBlue eliminates that pressure, allowing families and individuals to fly using their points when it makes the most sense for them.

It shows that Family Pooling was developed based on customer feedback. “TrueBlue is a loyalty program that rewards all of our customers, regardless of their frequency. Some customers choose JetBlue exclusively for family travel, while others mix business and family travel,” stated Dave Canty, director of loyalty marketing and partnerships at JetBlue Airways.

TrueBlue and its Family Pooling option is free to join and includes the ability to use points for any seat on any JetBlue operated flight.
