Maybe more than anyone, Moms need balance. Yet with the multitude of never-ending tasks and responsibilities, balance can be hard to find. This problem becomes enhanced when a full-time working woman becomes a full-time Mom, sometimes leaving her feeling like she has no time for either.

In many cases, women in this position of striving for balance find it difficult to cut back on their work hours, accommodate their children’s schedules, and give full attention to both jobs. Thus, many women give up their professional careers to become stay-at-home moms and focus on their children. But, besides the fact that many of these moms miss the challenges and adult interaction that comes from their prior jobs, this also means that companies miss out on the skills and expertise these women possess.

Which is exactly where companies like Mom Corps come in. Featured in an article on cnn.com, Mom Corps was founded by Allison O’Kelly in 2005 to put stay-at-home moms in contact with potential employers. Of the 25,000 job seekers who have signed up, at least one third have graduate degrees and 90% have a college degree. And Mom Corps is just one of several similar companies that enable large numbers of women to re-enter the work force as seasoned “temps.”

To me, this seems like yet another in a string of victories for working moms. Finally, companies are starting to recognize that moms need balance, and the number of options available to them (besides hire a full-time nanny or quit your job) increases all the time. Plus, the temporary/part-time workforce just got a whole lot stronger!
