Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Review and Giveaway

Preparing lunches, whether for my kids or myself, tends to take time in the morning that I simply can’t spare. With two teens, missing backpacks, carpools, and last minute emails, it becomes difficult to eat a good breakfast, let alone plan for lunch. Like many of my fellow mom coworkers, I have too often had to settle for a microwavable noodle dish or frozen meal, opting for convenience over nutrition. But, recently, Oscar Mayer provided a welcome alternative and treated Mom Central to a lunch of Deli Fresh products.

I first tried out Oscar Mayer’s newest products at the Kraft Blogger Summit earlier this summer. There, we Moms discussed healthy lunches on-the-go, for ourselves and our kids. I was struck most to learn about the difference between meats from the deli counter and Oscar Mayer pre-packaged food. With Oscar Mayer, once they cook the meats, they are sliced and instantly sealed to prevent contact with air, and the package can be re-closed to keep it sealed fresh. Not only does the product taste as fresh as the deli, but it costs 25% less. The ingredient lines are also similar, but deli meats need more preservatives since they do not have closed packaging. And I was struck by a comment by Sam Gammell, Senior Associate Brand Manager: “Our blend of spices and flavors is our special sauce.”

Just like traditional deli meats, Deli Fresh cold cuts come in different flavor varieties, seasonings, slice thicknesses and quantities.  We tried out Black Forest Ham and Rotisserie Chicken Breasts, topping them with Brie cheese and different spreads. The sandwiches were delicious, and knowing that these meats are fresh and the packaging avoids numerous handlings at a deli counter, I was able to enjoy the food even more! Plus, with cheaper prices and no waiting in a deli line, there are plenty of advantages. Obviously, convenience, nutrition, and price are all factors when it comes to my grocery decisions, and I will certainly be picking up Deli Fresh meats in the future – for work lunches and meals for my kids!
