Unreal Candy: Finally Taking the “Junk” Out of Junk Food
My kids, my husband, and I love junk food. As we strive for a healthy and nutritious diet, the candy and chocolate bars become our kryptonite. Packed with sugar, fat, and unnatural flavorings, these foods taste great but hinder our health. I have trouble resisting those feel-good sweet treats, and end up relishing and indulging in them. It proves hard to say “no” to my kids when I myself love the taste so much.
What if you could have your cake and eat it (without worrying about how bad it is for you) too? Unreal candy has totally reconstructed junk food from the inside out, substituting nutritious ingredients for the usual unhealthy ones without compromising on taste. Their candy uses natural cane sugar instead of corn syrup. There are no hydrogenated oils or artificial flavors, preservatives, colors, or GMOs. Instead of coating candy with chemical dyes, Unreal candy makes food coloring from beets, turmeric root, cabbage, and achiote tree seeds. This real food is responsibly sourced and packed with more chocolate, peanuts, nougat, and caramel than leading candy bars.
Unreal offers five different varieties that all contain 200 or fewer calories. They also have lower sugar, sodium, and fat and more protein and fiber than regular candy bars. Even with these major ingredient swaps, the candy still tastes as delicious as my usual junk food favorites.
The flavors include Unreal 54: candy coated chocolates with peanuts, Unreal 41: the same as 54 without peanuts, Unreal 8: chocolate caramel peanut nougat bar, Unreal 5: the same as 8 without peanuts, and Unreal 77: peanut butter cups. Unreal 77 is my personal favorite because of the rich pairing of hard chocolate with smooth, creamy peanut butter. This new candy allows my family to enjoy eating our favorite chocolaty treats without the unhealthy baggage.
Unreal candy will soon be available in over 30,000 stores across the nation and can be found at getunreal.com.
