By Stephanie Kaufman Disclosure: I’m part of the Finish Power & Free Alliance of Moms and received complimentary product samples to facilitate this review, as well as compensation. The opinions expressed here are my own. Here in the Northeast, our year started off with a flurry of snowstorms and bone-chilling temperatures sparked by the ubiquitous Polar Vortex. While my family loves winter activities such as cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, we also enjoy hunkering down with a hearty meal in front of a roaring fire when the temperatures plummet and winds begin howling. Food plays an enormous role in our lives. So much so that my husband and I view both cooking and eating as significant activities. In fact, as 2014 began, I resolved to cook more hearty vegetarian fare at least once a week and when the air turned frigid, I used it as an opportunity to explore more soups and stews.

JCPenney Home Collections
Mom Central attended a JCPenney Home Collections event to facilitate this post. All opinions are our own. When the urge for spring cleaning hits, we often find that the satisfaction of a clean and organized house isn’t enough, and a desire for a new look can takeover as well. So it was perfect timing when we attended a JCPenney Home Collections event and learned how the store has a solution for both big home décor renovations and small touch-ups that can make a huge difference. This was the first time we saw JCPenney focus on its own design brand, even though it has been a part of the store’s collection for years. It’s great to see the spotlight on the Home Collections, as it certainly compliments the other great designers that JCPenney features, such as Liz Claiborne, Michael Graves and Jonathan Adler. The line addresses every room of the home, from accessories for the living room and appliances for the kitchen, to great looking and well-designed furniture for people who have modern tastes, to even more rustic styles.
Marpac Dohm-NSF
Mom Central received a Marpac Dohm-NSF to facilitate this review. All opinions are our own. Getting a good night’s sleep is critically important to our overall health and well-being. Not only does it make us feel refreshed and ready to take on the day, but there are even studies that show that a good night’s sleep can help with our physical health and weight management. While we learn more and more about just how important sleep is, it seems there are increasingly more distractions that can prevent us from catching our optimal amount of zzzs. Whether we have children who don’t sleep through the night or find ourselves over-stimulated from our smartphones, television, or busy lives in general, it’s sometimes hard to ease into a relaxing night’s sleep.
Bedgear Performance Bedding
Mom Central received a complimentary set of bedgear sheets to facilitate this review. All opinions are our own. Until I had my two children, I never had much trouble in the sleep department and on most nights slept very soundly with minimal tossing and turning. But ever since going through pregnancy, childbirth and nursing, my body temperate has never quite been the same. Now I find myself easily overheating while sleeping. Despite keeping the temps low in our house and using lightweight blankets, I still find myself having trouble sleeping because I’m so warm. Not an ideal situation when other “distractions” happen overnight as well, like my daughter’s frequent middle-of-the-night monster scares or my son’s incessant coughing. All these things add up to a very restless night’s sleep, leaving me tired and exhausted before even getting out of bed and tackling the day ahead!
My First Movies
Mom Central was provided with complimentary My First Movies tickets to facilitate this review. The views expressed here are entirely our own. With an abundance of movies to watch, finding the perfect one that's suitable for the entire family can be quite a challenge. With a shortage of appropriate, child-friendly movies available, planning a trip to the movies is a nearly impossible task. Plus, bringing babies and toddlers to a feature-length film - even one for children - can be more than they’re often up for. Luckily My First Movies presented by BabyFirst caters specifically to this dilemma! Designed with toddlers in mind, My First Movies creates the ultimate interactive and child-friendly atmosphere. Don’t worry about your child’s fear of the dark, My First Movies keeps the lights on throughout the short movie, inviting both children and parents to dance, sing and enjoy the array of fun and educational films.
