A couple years ago, when my family went to get pumpkin, one pumpkin had maggots inside. It was gross because I didn't find out till I scooped out the insides. I never took it back, just threw it out and never went back to that pumpkin patch. How is that possible for maggots to be inside, there were no openings and the pumpkin appeared to be in good shape.
aparently it gets in from the roots, they are called "root Maggots. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1216/is_/ai_6265895
I don't know how your pumpkin grew soo big if indeed it was root maggots? It sounds like the plant should have died early on? I'll keep looking.
ew... that gives me the chills just thinking about it... Speaking of pumpkins, i want to get one for the kids this weekend. Do you know what your kids are going to be for Halloween. My daughter is going to be tinker bell, and my son is going to be peter pan. there is one problem, i am trying to find his costume for less than 30 dollars but it seems impossible. anyone know where i can get an inexpensive peter pan outfit...size 12-18 months?
YUCK!! thats gross!! I would freak out and throw it away too! This year Hazel is going to be a princess and for my newborn boy I bought him a pumpkin outfit Yes I am hoping I have him early
