Owen's sick again 3 Months ago Karma: 5
Well, Owen got this cold (actually we all have it) and Sunday he started wheezing & such so off to the ER. Spent a few hours there, went home saw the Ped Monday morning then back to the ER Monday night with his breathing & they ended up admitting him. They gave him all kinds of steroids & breathing treatments all night. Tuesday we finally got home, went back to the Ped today & she added another breathing treatment to the one he's already getting. I have a feeling it is going to be a long winter for him considering it isn't even fall yet!!! I am so tired!

Oh sweetie ((hugs))

Tyler has asthma and it flares whenever he gets a cold...that is his *trigger*. With lots of nebulizer treatments and puffers and he eventually gets better but it is stressful sometimes. He is great about using the neb as I know it helps him.

This winter, if he is bad or keeps getting sick, the Dr said he can put him on a maintenance medication for the asthma. We'll see. I know it is not fun when your kids are sick tho...hang in there.

How awful for him. I hope it doesn't happen too much this winter. Poor little guy.

Has he been diagnosed with asthma? I was diagnosed as an adult, but never had problems as a child. Children usually "outgrow" it, but that does not help him now. I hope he is better soon and winter is not as bad as you expect. We have had colds since we moved here. Fortunately, it has not been that bad, but it gets old. Get well!

I hope he starts to feel better soon and the winter isn't that bad. Its awful when the little ones are sick! escpecially when you have more than one and you are trying to keep the other one healthly so they don't just keep passing it around!

No, they haven't given him the "official Asthma diagnosis" they say it is bronchiolitis & we are hoping he will outgrow it. I'm sure if he hasn't in another year or so they will diagnose him asthma.

He really hates the neb treatments, last winter he was young enough to kinda roll with it now as soon as he sees the machine come out he starts crying yelling "NO...NO...Mimi (yes he calls me mimi) NO!" Then I have to hold him in like a huge bear hug with my legs & arms around him, sometimes I have to wrap him tight in a blanket to keep him from hitting me, the mask, etc. It's awful & right now we do 2 treatments in the am then 1 every 4 hours (so like 2 more times during the day) then 2 treatments at night (he gets 2 different meds am & pm). It really sucks. I feel so bad for him, but I know it's making him feel better. We are keeping him on a maintenance neb treatment once a day after this is all over so hopefully he won't get so bad at the next cold.
