Perhaps I should be embarrassed to admit this, but growing up in the midwest we always had turkey at Thanksgiving (like most families), and we always had cranberries to go with it (also, I assume, like most families). However, the cranberries we had were sliced from a can and I never cared for them. I had no idea why until I visited a friend for Thanksgiving in college, and her mother served actual fresh cranberries, and my life changed. Seriously.
I make this now just to have around the house for turkey sandwiches, and sometimes to eat after a meal for a little something sweet.
