If one of your children received an invitation to a birthday party and your other child was friends with the child.... Would you bring the other child?

So both children are friends with the birhtday child? I'm confused as to why a parent would invite one and not the other if they all are friends. I would ask the parent but I'm not sure it's fair to leave one and take the other.

I got this dilema from my local board... I will post what she said omitting names..

"I know this topic has been touched on before, but I wanted to get your input on this. My kids are only 11 months apart and go to the same daycare. Even though they are in different classes, they play together outside some and pretty much know the kids in each other's class. So, BOY SON got a birthday party invitation for a little girl in his class that both my kids know and like. This is the first time one of them has been invited to a birthday party that we actually could attend. Do you think it would be rude to ask the mom (who I don't know) if I can bring GIRL DAUGHTER and just pay her for any expenses that would incur? Dh has said he'll watch GIRL DAUGHTER while I take BOY SON to the party if needed, but I know he'll talk about it to her and she'll get upset and won't understand why she can't go.

I would say that the Mom probably invited Boy child because he was in the same class as birthday child. Maybe she was not aware that Girl Child was also friends with Birthday child. I would probably call the Mom & explain that Girl child is also friends with birthday child & could she come along (mom paying expenses) or I would just bring boy child & explain to girl child that it was a party for someone in boy childs class & even though they are all friends some things are for boy child & sometimes she will be invited to a party that boy child is not. I think it is good for siblings that are close in age to have some time & do things without their sibling.
