I have a 16 month old little girl. Shes at the age where she wants to play with everything. I tell her no and she will not listen to me. He dad tells her no and she listens. When she continues to play with something after we say no we tap her hand and say no. My mom yelled at me for doing it, she said your suppose to get up and move them. Well when I tap her hand and tell her no it works, sometimes. If I get up and move her, I'm sure shes thinking if i touch this then mommy comes. If I pop her hand and tell her no, she knows if I touch this I'm going to feel hurt. Although I tap her lightly and i know it doesn't hurt her she cries anyway. Should I tap her hand or should i move her.

i would just keep re-directing her. slapping the hand is only a quick fix. its annoying to run and remove your kid 1000s of times....but it works well and is non violent.

I'm having the same issue with my son who will be 17 months on the 24th of July!

He listens to his step-Dad just fine, but when it comes to Mommy he either laughs or keeps doing it..
Its quite frustrating, plus it doesn't help that I'm also very soft spoken!
