I need some advice and feedback from others out there. I was having an issue with my daughter's third grade teacher and was not receiving adequate feedback from the classroom regarding progress and some academic struggles she was having. Our school provided the names and e-mail addresses of other parents in the class. In an attempt to be fair, I sent a non-biased e-mail requesting response from the parents on how they thought their children were fairing in the class and if they felt the communication between the teacher and parents was adequate. I did this because, of course, I was getting horror stories from my daughter and one of her friends in the class, and a former student's parent stated she was also unhappy with the teacher when her daughter had her. Since I could not get adequate info from the teacher, I figured to get the whole story I had to e-mail the other parents. Shortly after I received one positive e-mail from one of the parents, but an e-mail was sent that day from the principal basically stating that I was inappropriate for sending the e-mail. I did not receive this e-mail, but it was forwarded to me and I did not hear from either the teacher or principal for over a week. I contacted the principal stating I simply wanted to know how others felt and was not conducting a survey on finding bad things on the teacher, only feedback in general because I received unfavorable info so far and the teacher would not contact me. Was I wrong to try to find out how other parents felt? I must stress that I put NO negative information in the e-mail. What are your thoughts???
