cloroxanddrlaundryAs the Thanksgiving holiday quickly approaches (and with a new array of stains expected at the end of the day), Mom Central has launched a contest in conjunction with Clorox's stain and laundry expert, Dr. Laundry (a.k.a., Harold Baker). We welcome tales of legendary stains from years past as well as the latest spills and burns this year's holiday is sure to create. And if you happen to have a camera close by as stains occur this year, snap a picture and send it our way by emailing Allison at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Additionally, Clorox has put together an arsenal of laundry information that will be available online and by telephone 24/7 through the holiday season. Dr. Laundry has expanded his already thorough stain-and-laundry-advice blog, http://www.drlaundryblog.com, to include a new series of instructional videos. Additionally, Dr. Laundry’s popular Stain Hotline will also be making a reappearance this year. Baker created a hotline – 1-800-STAIN-411 –for advice and tips on the nine most common holiday stains.

margaritamamaWith this new book by Alyssa Gusenoff, expectant mothers no longer have to skip the cocktails they used to love so much. (Don’t worry, these aren’t alcoholic!) This clever little book, Margarita Mama: Mocktails for Moms-to-Be, the result of a pregnant mom desperate to share in the cocktails her friends were enjoying, contains more than 75 drink recipes for pregnant women, most of them filled with healthy fruits. Whether you’re suffering from morning sickness, trying to survive a hot summer while pregnant, or wishing you hadn’t finished off that carton of ice cream the night before, there’s a drink in this book for every mood and occasion. In fact, some of the recipes are so good you’ll probably be tempted to use them even after you have your baby. To purchase the book, visit http://www.quirkbooks.com/Book.aspx?BID=286, and use the promo code THIRSTYMOMMY for 25% off your entire purchase from the site.

cloroxCleaning can be the bane of every mom’s existence. From mealtime spills to on the kitchen floor to disinfecting the bathroom, life with kids can mean constant cleaning up. Not to mention that keeping our kids protected from germs is high on every mom’s list of priorities; not a year goes by that cold and flu season doesn’t strike fear into the hearts of moms everywhere!

Thankfully, gone are the days of the germy scrubbing brush and tough elbow grease. Clorox’s new and improved disinfecting wipes will easily clean, disinfect, and sanitize everything from high chairs and counters to blinds and keyboards. The new wipes are not only thicker, but come in great scents, including lavender and kitchen fresh, and they’re not just effective at cleaning up – they kill germs like the flu virus.

oceloNo one would argue that cleaning up isn’t a large part of any mom’s day. From laundry and vacuuming to dusting and dishes, it seems like there’s always something to be done. Lucky for us, O-Cel-O can make at least some of that work easier. I recently received a number of O-Cel-O Expressions sponges, and although I had never before thought of a sponge as decoration, I was immediately drawn to the colorful and playful designs. But the uniqueness of these sponges didn’t end there.

by the book

Most of us know enough to never leave home without giving the sitter our cell phone number, but there is plenty of other information that we don’t even think about mentioning. “By The Book: How to Take Care of My Kids” gives you a place to organize all of your family information, including all of those stray but useful facts, such as your child’s favorite stuffed animal and bedtime song.

products

Clorox has spent several years developing their new natural cleaning projects, and the time has obviously been well spent. The result of all of their hard work is a product I truly love. The Green Works line of products, which are 99% natural, biodegradable, and not tested on animals, include bathroom, glass and surface, toilet bowl, and all-purpose cleaners. What’s more, these products clean as well as or better than the products you’re using now, except without the bleach, phosphorous, petrochemicals, and other harmful materials. The natural products fit seamlessly into a green lifestyle, keeping both your family and the environment safer and healthier. In fact, when I got my Green Works products, I was almost excited to start cleaning! You can finally feel good about the products you’re using to keep your home clean and your family healthy.
