Whether it’s time to take a much-needed family vacation, you work long hours, or you have a Saturday full of marathon errands – we often face the dilemma of who’s going to watch the dog? This extremely important member of the family must be taken care of to ensure its daily routine of exercise, rest, food and love and affection are provided. When pet parents determine their schedules, a major factor becomes arranging proper care for their four-legged friend. But how do you decide who will care for your pet in your absence?

I had the opportunity of touring the Pooch Hotel, owned by Petco, in Newton, Mass., that provides luxurious doggie daycare services for our fur babies when scheduling conflicts take us away from our everyday routines with them. I joined my colleague Maria and she brought her dog Farley to experience some of the “top dog” services that the Pooch Hotel provides.

Let’s just say from the moment Farley walked into the Pooch Hotel her tail was wagging! Farley was escorted into the large dogs playgroup where she instantly took to the trainer who was playing with the dogs. From the treats provided at the door, to the love and affection provided by the staff, she was treated like royalty. Was Farley getting the royal treatment since we were on a tour? Perhaps one would think so, but every dog that checked in after we arrived got the same type of TLC upon arrival. It was great to see the consistency among the staff with the animals.

Pooch Hotel Doggie Daycare and Grooming Services

Pooch HotelWhat started as a private doggie daycare business in Chicago in 2004, the Pooch Hotel now has several locations in California, Illinois, Massachusetts and Texas. The premium pet care facility is a pooch’s paradise from its wide range of doggie daycare, dog boarding and dog grooming services such a paw-dicures to palatial suites furnished with satellite TV and modern bedding. Pet parents have the option to choose doggie day care or reserve overnight boarding. The fees for an overnight stay range depending on the suite you choose for your dog – standard, presidential or palace. A standard night’s stay for one dog costs $50.

Regardless if you choose to board your pooch, drop him off for a day of play or to get him groomed – what proves true during a stay at The Pooch Hotel is that your dog will be well cared for and loved. Their employees love dogs and it shows through every interaction with them.

Another great perk to the Pooch Hotel is they are staffed 24/7 which means you have the ability and convenience to pick your pooch up at any time. If you’re gone for an extended amount of time, separation anxiety for the pet parent can set in – the Pooch Hotel’s got it covered, you can tune in via web cam to check on your pup.

Our dogs are more than just pets. Indeed, they are members of our families, so we want to provide them with the best care and services when we’re away from them. I was so impressed with the design of the hotel, the staff members and the overall energy at the Newton location. Large or small, young or old, all breeds, well behaved or those that may require a timeout, the Pooch Hotel provides the ideal setting for pooch luxury and playtime – where a dog can truly be a dog.
