Daughter Nearly 4 & Still Won't Potty Train. HELP! 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
My little girl turns 4 in a week or so. She will not have anything to do with the potty chair. Well, she will sit on it. She thinks that's kinda fun. But she won't actually go on it. Last year she had one BM on it because I made her sit there when she showed signs of pushing. She also had one pee on it. She awoke with a dry diaper and I knew she had to go so I made her stay on the potty until she did. I thoroughly praised her and she seemed happy about it. But ever since then, nothing.
Soooo - will she ever get it?
Everyone says she'll be potty trained before I send her to Kindergarten. (I am not so sure anymore!) I am sending her to preschool this fall and they require potty trained kids. I am sending her anyway with pull-ups if necessary.

I have two other kids and they both "got it" relatively quickly.

Any advice?

You must be very upset with her! I know you are not suppose to punish children for having accidents but 4years old is way to old to be pooping in her pants still. I would start taking away toys whatever it takes to have her go in the potty.

I agree with Jamie. We had to take away toys to get my daughter to poop in the toilet. It worked though. She will be three in a month and is pretty much potty trained at this point. She still has an occassional accident, but not so bad.

Honestly, I tried it all with getting her to poop in the toilet and the only thing that seemed to work was when my parents got her a new toy and I had to take it away from her when she pooped in her pants. She got it back as soon as she pooped in the toilet. Ever since then I've had a lot of success.

Good luck! I HATED potty training and I am so glad it is over now.

The start of potty training she seemed un-interested for the longest time refusing to go etc. So we had big girl potty day, we spent the week talking about big girl potty day on Friday and each day during the week we got something special for potty day. We bought big girl undies, potty treats (m&m's), a potty chart, a balloon, etc. then Thursday before bed we set up everything for big girl potty day. We put all the diapers away & got out the big girl pants, we put up the potty chart & stickers, set out the potty treats etc. Then when we woke up Friday we started celebrating big girl potty day. We put on big girl pants & sang songs, etc. She started using the potty that day & was pretty much pee pee trained by the end of the week. Right now we are battling with pooping on the potty, I am going to try the take away toy thing for pooping in her pants and see if that works. I also had success leaving her naked, she didn't like going on the floor & it made her really aware of when she had to go.

Just take her diapers away you may have to clean up the mess before but if you take them away she is gunna learn to go in the potty. My friend told her daughter that they dont make diapers in her size anymore. You could say they dont make diapers for 4 year olds and she has no choice but to wear underware and go in the potty. For madeline i told her she had to do it to start school the next year and that worked bc she wants to go to schol so bad
