1. What year did you start blogging?
August 2008

2. Other than blogging and being a mother, do you work?

I am also a substitute teacher at a private Christian school.

3. Why did you start your blog?

I began blogging as a way to connect with family out of state.

4. What advice do you have for those starting out?

Work hard at being unique and connect with your audience. Don’t expect things (reviews, trips, etc.) to just fall into your lap- or be a slave to your stats. It takes time and dedication! Also, find a happy medium between your blogging life, and your real life. Your real life should inspire you to blog, and without it, you have nothing!

My favorite thing about blogging is connecting with my readers! I love knowing that someone has related to or learned something from what I have published.

5. Name a few challenges you see or have experienced in the blogosphere?

So many bloggers think that everyone else is their competition. While it’s okay to be competitive, it’s gone to the extreme. I’ve seen bloggers do and say things they regret and have really hurt others in the process. The truth is, there’s room for all of us.

6. What are your favorite and least favorite part(s) about blogging?
My favorite thing about blogging is connecting with my readers! I love knowing that someone has related to or learned something from what I have published.
My least favorite? Trolls. I wish I could just zap them every time they pay me a “visit”.

7. What is the wackiest opportunity you have gotten since you started your Blog?

The wackiest is also the BEST opportunity I’ve ever gotten (so far!) was in June, when I had the opportunity to visit P&G headquarters in Cincinnati, OH. While there, I got to compete in a mini Project Runway judged by THE Tim Gunn. And for those of you wondering, my team won!

8. What are your top three blogging tips?

  1. Make goals for yourself. Once you reach them, let them go. Be proud of your accomplishments.
  2. Value yourself. This makes your time and effort worth something.
  3. Learn to accept failure. Just because got a “no” from a company (after pitching them) doesn’t mean you should give up.

9. What are you hoping will happen for you and your blog within the next year?

My goal all along has been to work with Disney in some capacity. I’m a huge fan (I actually got married there!), and would love to connect with them in the blogosphere.
10. We love link back love! Please tell us 2 or 3 blogs you love and their URLs.

My three favorite blogs that I visit are:

  1. http://www.savingslifestyle.com (This is where I find all my deals to help me save my family and I money and time).
  2. http://www.5DollarDinners.com (This is where I go to get great recipes for my family) and
  3. http://thehomespunheart.blogspot.com/ (A crafty and inspirational blog. I’d like to be more like her if/when I grow up)

Thanks so much, Katie!  We love working with you!
